2004 BEGINS WITH A BANG

AND THE SMELL OF GUNSMOKE

What does it take to make a good Cowboy Shootin’ day?  Well, mostly it takes a gathering of cowboys and cowgirls, and that’s what happened on January 24th at the Cleveland range.  43 cowboy and cowgirl shooters gathered, with their supporters and observing visitors, to conduct the 1st shoot of calendar year 2004...and it was a good one.  We shot pistols, and shotguns, and rifles, and bows and arrows, and all in all had a rip snorting good time.  As usual, T-Bone did a good job of writing the scenarios, and Horseshoe John and his range volunteers (Linc, Limp Along Charlie, Double Eagle) did a terrific job of setting up the ranges.  (Don’t forget, the range cowboys could use your help, whenever you’re available.)

the day, and Caliber .45 and Deadman both shot Perfect Matches with no misses. (attendance was down a little)  The weatherman had predicted a colder day, but we surprised him and had good weather for the shoot.  The Rev. Adam Jones, even though he was absent, must have used his influence and got a relatively warm, sunny day. Calibre .45 shoots a perfect match!Deadman shoots a perfect match!

NO SHOOT IN FEBRUARY

No Ocoee Rangers shoot in February.  The 4th Saturday will be the Knoxville Cowboy’s Shoot-Out at Pigeon Forge.  About a third of us Ocoee Rangers are also Knoxville cowboys and several others want to shoot in the Shoot-Out in Pigeon Forge.  But, we’ll have 2 shoots in MarchMarch 6 and our regular shoot day, March 27.  Our sponsors, the Cleveland Hunting Rifle and Pistol Club, graciously allowed us two days of range use in March.  So, mark your calendar and be ready for two days of fun and excitement in March.
