Ocoee Rangers Annual Christmas shoot &

family event!

 

 

The shoot was …… chilly, fast, and a prelude to the after shoot Family Event, where we had lunch, fun, shared prizes contributed by our very generous Event Sponsors and awarded 2005 Annual Awards.  Of course some folks weren’t able to attend and accept their awards in person.  In total, counting shooters, scorekeepers and other guests and families, almost 70 people participated in the festivities on the 17th.  Our attendance was down a bit, because of the cold temperature and from competition from other events and December pre-Christmas family commitments.  But what the heck, the cowboys & cowgirls who participated kept the bad guys at bay.  Shucks, 1 cowgirl (Last Kiss) and 11 cowboys  (Wildcat Wilkey, Tin Pot, Moab Margus, Limp Along Charlie, Dajango Slim, Owlhoot Hardin, Fast Harley, Purly, Deadman, Bad Arm Slim and the Rev. Adam Jones) shot clean matches.  The Top Gun for the day was Unpleasant, and the top cowgirl shooter was Last Kiss. It should be noted that this was the 1st Ocoee Ranger shoot in which a husband and wife both shot clean matches and on the same day: Last Kiss and Fast Harley.

 

With a light-hearted, 3-stage shoot, many cowboys experimented a little and shot in the Outlaw class for their first time.  For the uninitiated, the Outlaw class is where the shooter shoots pistols and shotguns from the hip, point shooting. And amidst all this were cowboys in Santa hats, worn over cowboy hats of course, and Christmas stages, courtesy of old T-Bone Angus. It was a fun day.  If you missed it, you missed a good day, great shooting and good company.

Santa made his list, checked it twice, and deputized Horseshoe Johnto represent him at the shoot.  Ranger Roger shoots as the “deputy” times.

The Buffalo Shoot begins 8:00 am. Registration 8:30 am  -  Posse Leader walk-through 9:15 am  - Safety meeting 9:45 am  -  Shooting follows !  All times are Eastern Time., ETC.  

Remember:  The Ocoee Rangers will not shoot in February, to support our friends of the Smokey Mountain Shootists, the Knoxville Cowboys & Cowgirls.  Their Shoot Out at Pigeon Forge will be held February 23, 24 & 25th.  The Ocoee Rangers will shoot 2 times in March:  March 4 and March 25.
